"No story lives on unless someone wants to listen. The stories we love best do live in us forever. So whether you come back by page or by the big screen. Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home." -- J.K. Rowling

The Kardashians Writing A Dystopian YA Book Series!?!?!

"Young adult readers are hungry for dystopias following the success of The Hunger Games, and now two sisters from Keeping Up With the Kardashians are ready for more chaos.

Kendall and Kylie Jenner announced today that they are writing an as-yet-untitled book about two sisters in a futuristic world, due next summer. Karen Hunter Publishing, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, will publish the book.

“We can’t wait to share these characters and the world we created with readers everywhere,” Kylie said in a statement.

The two have teamed up with Maya Sloan, author of High Before Homeroom, to co-write the story, which could be the first in a possible series, E! reports." (From Entertainment Weekly)

  1. Although...now that I think about it, this probably reflects well on the attitude toward books in popular culture.

Maybe that's a bright side? Maybe I'm trying too hard to be optimistic. Maybe it will be so wretchedly bad that it will help us aspiring authors feel good about ourselves. Though (IF THIS WERE A REAL THING, WHICH I DOUBT) it would probably be done almost completely by a ghost writer/team of ghost writers.

    1. I was right there with you Susan, in the beginning - I thought maybe it will give us aspiring authors A LOT of brownie points on how AMAZING we are compared to what they may write....But then, I realized that yep, they will indeed have a ghost writer and sadly/more then likely make it on the New York Times Bestsellers List, which is just.....depressing.

  2. My one thought is: Yeah, okay, sure you will. People severely underestimate how hard it actually is to write a novel. You have to be smart and hard working and able to take criticism. So no, I don't think they could do it. And I agree with Susan--if they did, it would be with a lot of help.

    1. Yep! They think just because they liked The Hunger Games, that they can now write the Next Big Thing....they need a reality check.

  3. So basically Maya Sloan will be writing a book and they will slap their names on it to increase sales...

    Whatever...
