SR: FEARLESS by Cornelia Funke!!

"Jacob Reckless returns once again to the Mirrorworld--filled with profound characters, extraordinary creatures, and epic life-or-death treasure hunts that could only come from the mind of the master storyteller of our generation, Cornelia Funke.

Jacob Reckless has only a few months left to live. He's tried everything to shake the Fairy curse that traded his life for his brother's--legends such as the All-Healing Apple, the Well of Eternal Youth, the blood of a northern Djinn. And yet hope after hope is extinguished. After months of fruitless searching, Jacob journeys through his father's mirror one final time to deliver the bad news to Fox.

But there they hear of one last possibility--an item so legendary that not even Mirrorworlders believe it exists: a crossbow that can kill thousands, or heal one, when shot through the heart. But a Goyl treasure hunter is also searching for the prized crossbow. Jacob must find it first--and somehow convince Fox to do whatever it takes to save him."

Book Two in the Mirrorworld Series! First Book is Reckless --

Preoder Now: Here!

I think Cornelia is one of the best writers for the MG audience because her worlds are so lush and rich and her writing is amazin! It is not insulting or trying to be 'hip' (is that still a term? hrm.) but rahter it is smooth and lyrical.

Wonderful--

Naturally, I cannot wait for this book!

SR: SPIRIT AND DUST by Rosemary Clement-Moore!!

"Daisy Goodnight can speak to the dead. It’s not the result of a head injury or some near-death experience. She was just born that way. And she’s really good at it. Good enough to help the police solve the occasional homicide.

But helping the local authorities clear cold cases is one thing. Being whisked out of chemistry class by the FBI and flown to the scene of a murder/kidnapping in Minnesota? That’s the real deal.

Before the promotion can go to Daisy’s head, she’s up to her neck in trouble. The spirits are talking, and they’re
terrified. There’s a real living girl in danger. And when Daisy is kidnapped by a crime boss with no scruples about using magic—and Daisy—to get what he wants, it looks like hers is the next soul on the line."

HOLIDAY Giveaway! SPLINTERED by A.G. Howard!!

"This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of a mystical under-land, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.

When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own."

Review: A SHADE OF VAMPIRE by Bella Forrest!

"Available on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/A-Shade-Of-Vamp...

"On the evening of Sofia Claremont's 17th birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.

A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.

She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine.

An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.

Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.

Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.

Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?"

The book was barely 150 pages so the review wont be very long.

The Bad: The major flaw for me was the length. The book was barely the size of a novella and there really could have been another 100 or so pages just so I could spend more time in the world getting to know Sofia and Derek and everything else. The story wasn't rushed necessarily, but it def could have used a more even pace for world and character development. However...READ MORE

Happy Belsnickel Day aka Merry CHRISTMAS!!

"Belsnickel (also Belschnickel, Belznickle, Belznickel, Pelznikel, Pelznickel, from pelzen (or belzen, German for to wallop or to drub) and Nickel being a hypocorism of the given name Nikolaus) is a crotchety, fur-clad Christmas gift-bringer figure in the folklore of the Palatinate region of southwestern Germany along the Rhine, the Saarland, and the Odenwald area of Baden-W├╝rttemberg. The figure is also preserved in Pennsylvania Dutch communities. The Belsnickel shows up at houses 1-2 weeks before Christmas. He is typically very ragged and mean looking. He wears torn, tattered, and dirty clothes, and he carries a switch in his hand with which to beat bad children. The children escape unharmed, but they are scared into being good so that Santa will bring them presents on Christmas. The tradition also exists in parts of Newfoundland, the prairie provinces of Canada and some communities in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina."

"A breathtaking journey toward self-discovery and true love, from the author of If I Stay

When sheltered American good girl Allyson "LuLu" Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

TWILIGHT SAGA Named Worst Films of All Time!?!?!

"The moody, angst-filled paradigm for emotionally abusive teen relationships known as the "Twilight Saga" is finally at end, thanks to its final chapter hitting theaters this fall. But it has still managed to win a dubious award: worst movie of all time. The movie-lovers at Rifftrax have concluded their poll looking for the worst movie ever made, and with a resounding 35,593 votes, the cheese-tastic series about a gloomy vampire named Edward (Robert Pattinson) and his even-gloomier human love interest, Bella (Kristen Stewart), nabbed the top spot. And if the apocalypse does happen on Dec. 21, looks like it arrived right on time for all those Twi-hards out there. [Source]"

Wow.

A bit harsh, I say. I may not love Twilight, but they do have some really great moments and there are MUCH Worst Films.

Worst films....? ..... perhaps....aside from that awful Transformers 3. hrrmmm...

Eclipse was the best, but New Moon was my favourite. The fight scene in Breaking Dawn pt 2 was the best moment of the entire series. Twilight was the nostalgic, crazy beginning.

Do you agree with Twilight's latest title of "Worst Films of All Time"?

And which Twilight flick was your fave? Least fave?

The best part about this book was hands down the writing and if the writing, the key component to any book, is considered the best part, then you know that it is a fantastic book!!

Splintered by A.G. Howard was just that!

In this modernized, yet still reminiscent sequel/reconstruction of Alice in Wonderland, the reader is introduced to Alyssa, a fun and fierce protag that holds her own through every page she is on.

I loved this book!

Alyssa is a dreadlocked, skateboarding heroine who has the kind of personality that you root for, despite her flaws, for these flaws only make her a more realistic and authentic character. Her narrative voice was very engaging and very believable. She was someone you could actually know and someone you would actually like. The one flaw that I did not care so much for was Al letting Jeb constantly defend her. Alyssa was strong, but her dependency on the boys in her life did get a little tiresome. Which leads me to  . . .

IN THE AFTER by Demitria Lunetta!

"They hear the most silent of footsteps.
They are faster than anything you've ever seen.
And They won't stop chasing you...until you are dead.

Amy is watching TV when it happens, when the world is attacked by Them. These vile creatures are rapidly devouring mankind. Most of the population is overtaken, but Amy manages to escape—and even rescue “Baby,” a toddler left behind in the chaos. Marooned in Amy’s house, the girls do everything they can to survive—and avoid Them at all costs.

After years of hiding, they are miraculously rescued and taken to New Hope, a colony of survivors living in a former government research compound. While at first the colony seems like a dream with plenty of food, safety, and shelter, New Hope slowly reveals that it is far from ideal. And Amy soon realizes that unless things change, she’ll lose Baby—and much more.

DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE Film Is Officially Happening!!??!

"Universal Pictures has set Joe Roth (Snow White and the Huntsman) to produce their upcoming fantasy epic Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Deadline reports. Palak Patel is attached as executive producer.

The young adult fantasy novel was written by National Book Award Finalist Laini Taylor. The book was published in September of 2011 and is the first in a trilogy. It is officially described as follows:
In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war.

Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages--not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.

When one of the strangers--beautiful, haunted Akiva--fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

In addition to his work on Snow White and the Huntsman, Roth is known for producing Alice in Wonderland and the upcoming
Oz The Great and Powerful and Maleficent." READ MORE NOW AT COMINGSOON.NET

I think Laini Taylor is a stunning novelist. She is so unique and brilliant and I cannot wait to see this film brought to life!

India Eisley pictured above is my personal choice for Karou. I think she is sorta perfect.

I was hoping for Guillermo del Toro would have something to do with it, because he knows how to make atmosphereic creature filled films, but alas no.

Veronica Roths' DIVERGENT Finale RESURGENT Cover Reveal!?!?!?!

 Resurgent - WITNESS THE END

"Futuristic Chicago has a population divided into factions; groups of people with unique cultural values, religions and behaviors. There are five different factions in the city:

  1. "Abnegation"-the selfless.
  2. "Amity"-The Peaceful.
  3. "Candor"-The Honest.
  4. "Dauntless"-The Brave.
  5. "Erudite"-The Intelligent.
Abnegation is the protagonist's home faction, and is unfriendly with factions Erudite and Dauntless. Beatrice Prior, called Tris after the Choosing Ceremony, was raised in Abnegation, where selflessness is held above all else. Despite her parents' teachings, selflessness doesn't come naturally to Beatrice. She feels lonely and constricted, surrounded by people who don't think like her. When she comes of age (16 in her case), she and her peers take an aptitude test to determine their faction of maximum compatibility. The test is made up of reality simulations in which actions taken reveal personality elements. To her surprise, Tris discovers that she is able to manipulate the simulation and make decisions not allowed by the algorithms. After she is finished, she is told that she is Divergent, meaning that she does not fit in any single faction. She has equal aptitude for three separate factions (Dauntless, Abnegation, and Erudite), and this terrifies her. Beatrice is told that she must never, ever tell anyone she is Divergent. Not even her parents can know the result of her aptitude test."

Susan Ee's ANGELFALL Becoming a Film?!?!?

"Sam Raimi will be joining the ranks of producers hoping to find the next big film franchise based on a YA book as he has just acquired the rights to the post-apocalyptic angel themed novel ‘Angelfall.’

The book, by Susan Ee, has a very interesting backstory. Originally a self-published e-book, ‘Angelfall’ started off as a modified NaNo novel with Ee’s goal to write 80,000 words in 6 weeks. What came out of this self-challenge was an novel that ranked No. 1 on Goodreads’ list of best independent novels and was a finalist for the 2011 Cybils award for best young adult fantasy and sci-fi books before being picked up by Amazon Children’s Publishing and officially being released by them last August. Her second book in the series yet untitled is set to be released next fall.

Here’s a synopsis for ‘Angelfall:’
'Six weeks after angels of the apocalypse descend to demolish the modern world, street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back… even if that means making a deal with an enemy angel Raffe, a warrior who has been left bleeding and wingless. Having only each other to rely on for survival, the two journey towards the angel’s stronghold where she must risk everything to rescue her sister and he must decide whether to put himself at the mercy of his enemies for the chance to be made whole again.'" Read More - http://sciencefiction.com/2012/11/17/sam-raimi-to-produce-film-adaptation-of-angelfall/

J.K. Rowlings THE CASUAL VACANCY Becoming TV Series?!?!

"British author J.K. Rowling's first adult novel "The Casual Vacancy" will be adapted for the small screen, the BBC announced on Monday, unlike her Harry Potter adventures which went on to become one of the biggest film franchises of all time.

Public broadcaster BBC One and BBC Drama have commissioned the exclusive adaptation from The Blair Partnership literary agency which represents the author. The series is expected to air in 2014.

Rowling will collaborate "closely" on the project, with the number and length of episodes to be decided once the adaptation has formally begun.

"I always felt that, if it were to be adapted, this novel was best suited to television and I think the BBC is the perfect home," Rowling said in a statement.

Danny Cohen, controller of BBC One, said the project "highlights the ambition and scale of BBC One Drama, as well as the ability of modern television to attract the world's biggest talent and most exciting creative ideas."

The Casual Vacancy, which examines the clash of ideals, classes and generations in the seemingly sleepy English town of Pagford, has topped the bestseller lists in several countries, although it did not match the success of the Potter phenomenon."

SHIVER's Maggie Stiefvater and Her Words of Advice!!

I'm Maggie, professional novelist by day and artist by night. All of my life decisions have been based around my inability to be gainfully employed. Talking to yourself, staring into space, and coming to work in your pajamas are frowned upon when you're a waitress, calligraphy instructor, or technical editor (all of which I've tried), but are highly prized traits in novelists and artists. I've made my living as one or the other since I was 22. I now live an eccentric life in the middle of nowhere, Virginia with my charmingly straight-laced husband, two kids, and neurotic dogs. I'm the author of the Books of Faerie (LAMENT and BALLAD); the bestselling SHIVER trilogy (SHIVER, LINGER, FOREVER), and THE SCORPIO RACES .

Brilliant and true words of advice, from a brilliant writer!!

Listen to THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY Soundtrack FREE Online!!

"Based on the book of the same name, The Hobbit follows Bilbo Baggins, a curious young Hobbit, as he journeys eastwards with the wizard Gandalf and a troupe of thirteen dwarves. Their goal is to reach the Lonely Mountain and reclaim a stolen treasure guarded by Smaug, a cruel and terrible dragon.

The journey leads them from Bilbo's home in the Shire through Rivendell, an Elven colony, and then into the Misty Mountains. There "they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever ... Gollum." Seemingly by coincidence, Bilbo acquires a golden ring that was previously owned by Gollum. This ring, although unobtrusive, is a "ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities" by rendering its wearer invisible.

As they continue eastward, the travellers eventually reach Mirkwood, the realm of the Silvan Elves."

HUNGER GAMES's Suzanne Collins NEW Book is THE YEAR OF THE JUNGLE!!!?

"Our friend Sheila Marie Everett, a publicity trade manager here at Scholastic, wanted to break some exciting news for you! Read on for the details!

I am so thrilled to share some BIG news for Suzanne Collins readers! Today Scholastic announced the publication of Year of the Jungle, an autobiographical picture book by Suzanne Collins coming in Fall 2013, illustrated by acclaimed picture book author-artist and television writer/animator James Proimos. Year of the Jungle is for ages 4 and up and is based on the year Suzanne Collins’s father served in Viet Nam when she was in first grade.

Suzanne Collins explains, “For several years I had this little wicker basket next to my writing chair with the postcards my dad had sent me from Viet Nam and photos of that year. But I could never quite find a way into the story. It has elements that can be scary for the audience and it would be easy for the art to reinforce those. It could be really beautiful art but still be off-putting to a kid, which would defeat the point of doing the book. Then one day I was having lunch with Jim [Proimos] and telling him about the idea and he said, ‘That sounds fantastic.’ I looked at him and I had this flash of the story through his eyes, with his art. It was like being handed a key to a locked door. So, I just blurted out, ‘Do you want to do it?’ Fortunately he said yes. That afternoon, on the train ride home, the book started unfolding in my head. There’s a natural humor and sense of fun to his drawing style that makes the story approachable. As the emotional life of the main character evolves into darker places, the pictures beautifully keep pace with it, but they never lose that Proimos quality. His art made telling the story possible.”" Click Here To Read The Rest: http://oomscholasticblog.com/2012/11/big-news-for-suzanne-collins-fans.html

Review: JUSTICE by Jade Varden!!

"When you build an entire life on a foundation of lies, it only takes one truth for the whole thing to come crashing down. I never invited the truth in. I never went searching for it. I never had any reason to suspect that the two people I loved most were dishonest with me every second of every day.

I made one bad decision, and in a single day my entire world changed. If I'm ever going to discover the truth about myself and my parents, I have to trace all the lies back to their source. I have to try to find the truth that they're hiding.

The more I discover about myself, and my past, the more I realize that lies really are better than the truth. But now that I know the lies are all around me, I can't stop until I've discovered them all. I'll pull each lie away, one by one, and examine it to see what's underneath...until this house of cards crumbles into dust at my feet.

I just hope I can survive the crash."

This book was a quick read - only 152 pages.

For the most part I enjoy Justice by Jade Varden. I know that it is  a  series so things will def be further explored, explained and executed later.

Rain was a interesting character and from the premise I was expecting a darker book, but it was pretty clean considering she is at a place surrounded by wealthy kids who have access to many things they otherwise would not, but that was okay. Rain was a well-developed character that had a clear voice that I really, really liked. She was not annoying and understood what she had to do to discover who she really is.

This book is littered with mysteries and it was pretty addictive! I mean I finished it in less than two hours, because even though somethings seemed a bit too coincidental, the unfolding of characters motives, histories and discoveries of lies were just fun! I wanted to know what happened  next.

This book does have a love triangle potential, but luckily the author avoids it, by making Rain pick who she likes best, pretty early one. So you dodge a speeding and annoying bullet there, at least for now. It is only the first book in a series so it will more than likely be explored some more.

The side characters, especially those like Carsyn were fun and well-developed and in the few pages, you did get an understanding of who they are and that is always good..

The writing was fast paced and descriptive without being overbearing and allowed for novel to transiton along pretty fast.

I enjoyed Justice by Jade Varden and will def check out it's sequels.

3.5 Hearts out of 5!!

Review: LIZZY SPEARE AND THE CURSED TOMB by Ally Malinenko!!

"MEET LIZZY SPEARE a normal twelve year old girl with a talent for writing, who has a very not normal family secret. And when Lizzy’s father vanishes, that secret will change her life in ways unimagined. (Spoiler Alert! It turns out that Lizzy, or Elizabeth S. Speare, is the last living descendant of William Shakespeare. Shhh! Don’t tell anybody!)

Then Lizzy and her best friend Sammy are kidnapped, awakening in the faraway land of Manhattan. Their host is Jonathan Muse, whose job is to protect Lizzy from becoming the latest victim in a family feud nearly five hundred years old. Could that be why the mysterious, eye patch-wearing Dmitri Marlowe is after her? (Spoiler Alert 2—he’s the last living descendant of Christopher Marlowe, a friend and rival of Shakespeare’s. But keep it to yourself!) Is Marlowe after Lizzy’s family fortune rumored to be kept in Shakespeare’s tomb? Does he seek artistic immortality? Or Revenge (with a capital R) for a death long, long ago?

In a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse, Lizzy and Sammy are thrust into the realm of the mythical and fantastic—from satyrs and Cyclopses to Middle Eastern cab drivers and Brooklyn hipsters—in what is truly “an improbable fiction” as the Bard himself once wrote."

I received this book a little while back, but due to the sad destruction of my KindleFire, I was not able to read it. However, I am glad to say that I finished reading Lizzy Speare a few hours ago and I really wish I had been able to do so earlier!

This book was great! It was witty, humorous, creative and at times, dark-ish.

It was such a fun read that honestly, anyone of any age would enjoy. It's filled with the fantastical in a urban fantasy-like setting that has all the heart of a Harry Potter novel. Honestly.

I don't like to ever give anything away that is not in the premise of the book, but this book had so many fun and magical moments that I really just wanted more. This novel has a purpose and meaning and some of the prose in this book is very powerful, especially in regards as it for a younger audience. The messages of deciding who you are and loving who are so true and wonderful. Kids should read this.

Lizzy herself was a wonderful protag. She was intelligent and questioned the things around her, people's actions. Even though she was afraid at times she remained brave and I really liked that about her,  though was still being a believable child.

I liked that the side characters had their own stories aside from what was happening with Lizzy and how it helped move the book to its very powerful and emotional ending.

It was a very, very nice and touching that was great. It was bittersweet.

In the end, Lizzy Speare and the Cursed Tomb was a wonderful novel about innocence, growing up and discovering your worth and realizing that though there maybe many doors in the world, you make decision to open the one meant for you!

I give Lizzy Speare 4 out of 5 Hearts!

Review: THE DARKEST MINDS by Alexandra Bracken!!

"When Ruby wakes up on her tenth birthday, something about her has changed. Something alarming enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that gets her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government "rehabilitation camp." She might have survived the mysterious disease that's killed most of America's children, but she and the others have emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control.

Now sixteen, Ruby is one of the dangerous ones.

When the truth comes out, Ruby barely escapes Thurmond with her life. Now she's on the run, desperate to find the one safe haven left for kids like her--East River. She joins a group of kids who escaped their own camp. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can't risk getting close. Not after what happened to her parents.

When they arrive at East River, nothing is as it seems, least of all its mysterious leader. But there are other forces at work, people who will stop at nothing to use Ruby in their fight against the government. Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at a life worth living."

Release Date: December 18th!

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken was an intriguing dystopian that had me flipping through the pages without stop!

Though I had did have some issues with the believability of this dystopian society, particularly the adults involvement or lack there off (no outrage, mom & dad?), Bracken's prowess as a writer is what managed to lock me in and keep me hooked and somewhat terrified, especially in regards to Ruby's camp. What a krazy place!

Ruby's world is pretty intense and this is YA dystop at it's top pick. I really enjoyed reading Ruby's interaction with other characters and the group of allies she forms was reminiscent of Harry Potter with the notion of a group of kids coming together to stop authority. Though Ruby's story has next to no light moments that the reader can laugh at, it was a nice band of misfits.

The disease that is afflicting the kids was pretty interesting, but was never thoroughly explored and explained in enough details to allow me to fully understand how some people die and others don't. I hope this is explained in later books and was not dropped in The Darkest Minds just because the author didn't feel a need to explain it. I believe it is the former.

Ruby was a top heroine and though she wasn't as tough as Katniss, she was no Mary Sue and she knew how to survive! She was a strong and complex protag with a very intriguing history and mind. Her 'abilites' though oddly labeled, were pretty awesome! This book reminded me of X-Men in that regards, but Bracken takes the 'supernatural' aspect and makes it her own.

My favorite part? Not a silly at first glimpse/breathe/touch romance! It is awesome to see dysoptian not relying on a love story to have (what they believe to be) strong female characters!

In the end I really, really enjoyed The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken and cannot wait for the sequels!

Review: BLACK CITY by Elizabeth Richards!!

"A dark and tender post-apocalyptic love story set in the aftermath of a bloody war.

In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection that causes Ash’s long-dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught, they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong.

When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths."

Black City by Elizabeth Richards was a fast-paced novel that combines YA's hottest trends; vamps and crappy futures a.k.a dystopian!

I love dystopian. I honestly do not think there will ever be enough ways to describe a  scary and crap future ran by evil governments and in Black City's case, Darklings, but only if they are good and believable. And while Black City was a little more fantastical, therefore not that believable, it was very very good!

I really enjoyed this novel and cannot wait for it's sequel Phoenix!

Though once again this novel was a case of instalust (real word, look it up!) I did find myself buying Ash's and Natalie's romance a lot more than most love at first bite .. . . err, sight, stories. This is entirely because of Richard's writing and her terrific way of creating such intriguing characters. Though Ash, who is a 'nipper' is def one of those tortured bad boys in the lieu of Jace from TMI (don't care for those kind of characters) his tortured broodiness WAS believable, so I wasn't annoyed by him, at least not that much. His struggles with his emotions, with who is, who he wants to be and who he can't help but be, truly makes you feel for him and connect with him. His conflictions were raw and touching and he has been through and does some serious dark things to stay a live.

I also really liked Natalie. She was a strong character who could hold her own and I enjoyed that about her. Though her romance with Ash and the 'mystery' were a little predictable, I couldn't help but enjoy being inside her head. I also liked her mother who was in one word; evil. She was a fantastic character! But my favorite character was probably Rose. That man was evil, with a capital E! He oozed hidden craziness and he was just plain wicked! Fantastic character because of fantastic writing!

The writing in this book was terrific, especially in regards to the characters and the construction and descriptions of the world and society. I loved the prose and how authentic everything felt even though a lot of it was so fantastical. In the end I really enjoyed Black City and cannot wait for it's sequel, Phoenix!

I give it 4 Hearts of 5!!

Stephenie Meyer Writing New TWILIGHT SAGA Books!?!?!

FACT: As of October 2010, the series has sold over 116 million copies worldwide with translations into at least 38 different languages around the globe. The four Twilight books have consecutively set records as the biggest selling novels of 2008 on the USA Today Best-Selling Books list and have spent over 235 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list for Children's Series Books

"Just when you thought it was over, it’s not!

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer refused to commit to the rumor that she may write additional volumes of her already elaborate teen vampire saga at a press conference for the final film in the series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. She did say, however, the idea of more blood, sex and tears in future books wasn’t impossible either.

In fact, she admitted to having already thought through the entire story. “I planned out where

Review: ASHES OF TWILIGHT by Kassy Taylor!!

"Wren MacAvoy works as a coal miner for a domed city that was constructed in the mid-nineteenth century to protect the royal blood line of England when astronomers spotted a comet on a collision course with Earth. Humanity would be saved by the most groundbreaking technology of the time. But after nearly 200 years of life beneath the dome, society has become complacent and the coal is running out. Plus there are those who wonder, is there life outside the dome or is the world still consumed by fire?

When one of Wren's friends escapes the confines of the dome, he is burned alive and put on display as a warning to those seeking to disrupt the dome’s way of life. But Alex’s final words are haunting. “The sky is blue.” What happens next is a whirlwind of adventure, romance, conspiracy and the struggle to stay alive in a world where nothing is as it seems. Wren unwittingly becomes a catalyst for a revolution that destroys the dome and the only way to survive might be to embrace what the entire society has feared their entire existence."

Ashes of Twilight by Kassy Taylor is half environmental commentary, half dystopian thriller and entirely good! Wren was a good protag who I enjoyed for the most part. I did not like her romance storyline that much because I felt it all happened way too quickly. After a couple dozen pages or so, maybe even less, Alex and Wren are already proclaiming their love for one another and I just did not buy it. I guess love at first sight does exist, but when sooooooooooooooo many YA books have that element it loses it's effectiveness/romantic appeal, extremely quickly. But other than that I liked Wren and thought for the most part she was strong female character.

The description and the prose of the novel were both pretty good. The descriptions of the tunnels and the world beneath the Dome were realistic and nicely described, without being overbearing. I could feel the suppression and claustrophobia of the world in the tunnels, and understand both Alex and Wren's needs to escape and find out more. The fear of not being sure how much longer you'll be able to live because of the lack of energy sources were genuine, simply because of the exploration through the writing.

While I thoroughly enjoyed Kassy's take on the dystopian/post-apocalyptic future, the novel did remind me of other books such as The City of Ember and Pure by Julianna Baggott. However, which that being said, Kassy does create her own world and her spin on the 'mole people' was fresh enough through it's characters and mysteries, that it wasn't annoying like it could have been in lesser hands.

Overall, Kassy Taylor's Ashes of Twilight was a  thrilling and pace building novel about survival, with characters trying to find the truth about the world they live in and themselves. I'm very interested to read the sequels!
