The Huger Games film has officially cast Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket!!!

Though I heard Kristen Bell and Kristin Chenoweth where both up for the role and they would have been perfect in their own respects, I am still very glad that Banks got the role and I can not wait to see how she brings this character to life!!!

Deathly Hallows Part II Trailer (yikes!)

Soooooo, frickin' awesome and frickin' awesome and frickin' OMGOSH!!!

Love the changes that they made to the film, that I noticed in the trailer!!

We Write on Wednesday (3) 4-27-11

We Write on Wednesday is a meme I host. Its all about writing a story. The story can come in the form of a short story, a poem, a full length story or even fanfiction! All you have to do is write. It doesn't matter how long it is; a paragraph, a full page, or just a sentence, as long as you write and post it on your blog!

I've noticed that many book bloggers like to write and would like to have a book written one day, including myself and this is a really fun way to share our writing and be critiqued by fellow bloggers!

Title: Untitled

" 'Does it hurt?' she whispered, watching as he toyed with the silver bracelet around his wrist, 'Dying, I mean. Does it hurt?'

The boy looked at her briefly considering her question and then turned away, taking a deep breath. He watched as the waves crashed against the shore, frothing white as they hit the sand. The sun was setting and its dark orange glow glistened against the blue sea, so brightly that he had to squint his eyes.

"Yes," he said, turning back to the girl. He starred into her eyes and she could see that they shined with tears. 'Yes, it does. It hurts. But living . . . living hurts more.'"

Thoughts? And what are you writing?

Review: WILL GRAYSON, WILL GRAYSON by John Green and David Levithan

Author: John Green and David Levithan
Release Date: April 6, 2010
Age Group: Young Adult
Publisher: Dutton Juvenile
Page Count: 304
Available At?: Amazon, B&N, Books-A-Million and Author's Site

The Real Lives of the American Teenagers!!

Here is a Description:

'One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, two teens—both named Will Grayson—are about to cross paths. As their worlds collide and intertwine, the Will Graysons find their lives going in new and unexpected directions, building toward romantic turns-of-heart and the epic production of history’s most fabulous high school musical.
Hilarious, poignant, and deeply insightful, John Green and David Levithan’s collaborative novel is brimming with a double helping of the heart and humor that have won both them legions of faithful fans.'

The Cover: The cover doesn't have a specific meaning to the story, but for me I think it symbolizes the fast and blurring moments of life. That life is filled with times when things are disoriented and confusing, but you have to find your way  to get what you want. Also, in a literal sense, its a party scene, with flashing lights, sooooo, party!!

First Line: "When I was little, my dad used to tell me, 'Will, you can pick your friends, and you  can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose.'"

My Thoughts . . . .

So let me just say, this book was completely and utterly dumb!  . . . . Kidding, completely kidding! This book was one of the funniest and most brilliant books I have read in a long while. I had it for a few months and it was signed no less, by both of the amazing authors, but I kept putting it off, but . . .I'm just glad that I finally read it.

The characters were completely original and real. I had friends that acted just like these characters and even I acted like these characters, sometimes. ; <)

I'm not sure how to accurately describe these characters, but I promise, they were just like people you have met before, even Tiny reminded me of my old high school friend, though Tiny was 85% more over the top, but in the best way possible.

I really enjoyed how the story rotated from the povs of the different Will Graysons and how they were completely different, each with their funny, sarcastic personalities, that at the same time was sad and endearing.

The story was completely hilarious, but the funniness of it didn't in anyway deter me from getting the meaning behind the story.

You have to learn to love yourself and who you are, before you love someone else and more importantly, be happy with yourself.

This book is funny, sweet and inspirational and everyone should read it. Now. Really, go get it!!

Kiersten White's AWESOME Advice!! (sortarhymes!)

Kiersten White, author of Paranormalcy and the not-so-soon, but wish it were, to be released, sequel to Paranormalcy, Supernaturally, put up a post on her blog the other day that I really enjoyed and that I thought was honest and helpful and that I wanted to share!

She makes some very good points that I think all aspiring authors should follow. Writing is hard. Writing is fun. Writing is a job!! You have to sacrifice in order to achieve your dreams!!!

Great advice, Kiersten!!!

Her Post Below!:

"Keys on Notes. Notes on Keys. Keynotes.

Saturday I had the awesome opportunity to attend the Teen Author Boot Camp (put on by the super cool writing group Writers Cubed) and give the keynote speech. It was the first one I've ever done and, in spite of minor technical difficulties at the beginning quickly solved by the tech savvy organizers (which also gave me the opportunity to decide my next imaginary band should be named Technical Difficulties), I had a great time and felt like it went well.
Plus, speaking to an audience made up entirely of teen writers? You really can't get a better group than that. I was so impressed with the teens I met there. My favorite events are always the ones focused around teenagers. There's a reason I write for them. That reason is that they are awesome and hilarious and so much cooler and put together than I remember being at that age...

Anyhow, some people asked if I could post my keynote. I'm not going to type out everything I said because aside from a few slides with key points, I mostly ad libbed the whole thing. (AND! I managed to only talk fast, instead of waywaywaytoofast!) But today and tomorrow I'll share my powerpoint slides for some of it with you.

Today, my main tips for moving from being a real writer to being a realer writer. Keep in mind I spoke more on each of the points; please just imagine what I would have said, and while you are at it imagine I said it while standing at a perfect 5'7" height, with flawless hair and makeup, and that everything was brilliant and funny and astonishingly applicable.

What do you think of Kiersten words?

Hunger Games Cast District 3!!

The Hunger Games have cast the unnamed tributes of District 3. They will be played by newcomers Ian Nelson and Kalia Prescott!!

I have no complaints!!

Review: TWILIGHT SAGA: The Official Illustrated Guide by Stephenie Meyer!

Author: Stephenie Meyer
Release Date: April 12,2011
Age Group: Young Adult
Publisher: Little, Brown
Page Count: 524
Source: Bought
Available At?: Amazon, B&N, Books-A-Million and Simon and Schuster.com!

The Guide to the Saga, of the Vampires and Stuff!!

'This must-have hardcover edition--the only official guide--is the definitive encyclopedic reference to the Twilight Saga and provides readers with everything they need to further explore the unforgettable world Stephenie Meyer created in Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, and The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. This comprehensive handbook—essential for every Twilight Saga fan—is full-color throughout with nearly 100 gorgeous illustrations and photographs and with exclusive new material, character profiles, genealogical charts, maps, extensive cross-references, and much more.'

The Cover: Is pretty cool and creative, just like the other covers in the series . . . but it looks more childish in real life. On the computer its looks better, because the puzzle pieces are actually rounder in real life.

My Thoughts . . . .

I don't have much to say, not because I want to avoid spoilers, but because I was rather disappointed . . .

Firstly, the term Illustrated Guide, is rather misleading. There are some illustrations, but nowhere near as much OR the kind I was anticipating. The Cullens are illustrated, as are James, (some of Bella's human friends) Victoria, Laurent, Bella, Nessie, Jacob and Charlie and that's it!!

I was really expecting that every character was going to have an illustration or at least the wolves and the Volturi, but nope, they are not and that is soooooooo, lame and disappointing and just . . . .blah!!

The character profiles where nice and had some interesting facts, but they really didn't go into detail which also, was lame.

Stephenie Meyer tries to explain the reason that some vamps have special abilities, saying they already had tendencies towards their powers when they were human; just as Edward and Jasper being very intuitive to the people around them, so when they became vampires, that natural ability intensified and became a power . . . . hmmmm, OK, I can sorta buy that but, but and however, how can Steph Meyer explain the reason why Benjamin from Breaking Dawn, is all like Aang the Avatar/Last Airbender and he can control the four elements. I don't really get that, because the way she explains the attaining of powers, does not justify Benjamins' abilities. . . . yeeeeeah.

And do not get me started on the whole imprinting thing . . . gross.

So, overall the book was lacking in the picture department and didn't have enough plausible info to quench my questions concerning the series, but it was still an interesting read.

Should YOU Buy It? No; Not unless you are a mjr Twihard and love everything sparkly vamp and Steph Meyer, but I do think if you have read the series, you should defo check it out from the library or borrow it from a friend!!

The Guide Gets A 3/5!!!

MORE Hunger Games Casting Update!!

The Hungers Games film has cast Leven Rambin, whom you might have seen in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, another brilliant, short lived TV show, as District 1's, Glimmer AND Jack Quaid as District 1's Marvel!!

I have never seen anything that Jack was in, but he is the son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid so here's to highhopes! As for Leven, I know that she is a really great actress. Her role in Terminator was insane!

The actor choices for this film have been top notch so far . . . really likin' it!!

What are your thoughts?!

Hunger Games Cast Momma Everdeen!!

Paula Malcomson of one of my favorite, yet short lived TV shows ever, Caprica, has been cast to play Katniss and Prim's mother in the Hunger Games film!!

Paula is an awesome actor; she is very good with the raw and intense moments which her character on Caprica was always going through, so she will be perfect for the role of Ms. Everdeen.

I am really XCITED about this news and it is just, well, awesome!!

.......also, in possible(?) talks to play other roles in the Hunger Games film are John C. Reilly for the role of Haymitch and Elizabeth Banks for the role of Effie, both of which I have no problem with at all!

Can not wait to see who gets cast next!!

What are your thoughts on Momma Everdeen?

Artemis Fowl and Saoirse Ronan!!

Artemis Fowl written by author Eoin Colfer has been in talks to become a film since, I don't know, like the dawn of time or something (maybe not that long), and the newest news in a long line of nonhappening news, is that the brilliant actor, Saoirse Ronan is in talks to play fairy, Holly Shorts!!

Saoirse Ronan has been in films such as the brilliant, The Lovely Bones, Atonement, Hanna, and The City of Ember!!

This is just a rumor, but hopefully its true so that it means that movie is actually going to happen!!

. . . . . but and there is a but, another rumor is that the exects behind the making of the film are planning of combining the first two books in the series into one movie AND make up an entirely new ending!

I will never understand why Hollywood thinks its a good idea to take a book and butcher it when making it a film. It doesn't work, never has and never will. Examples?: Eragon, Inkheart, The Golden Compass, Spiderwick Chronicles, and A Series of Unforuntate Events are just a few.

I realllly hope they snap to their senses and realize its a bad idea and make the movie accurately . . . but I'm sure its just wishful thinking . . .  *sighs*

Lauren Oliver's Awesome Contest!!

Lauren Oliver, author of Before I Fall and the most awesomest Delirium is holding a contest on her blog for her new book that comes out in October. Its her first book for a younger audience, middle-grade to be exact and it looks really grool and spooky, like a Grimm Brother's fairytale! Grool!

The book is called Liesl and Po:

"We meet Liesl the night after the day her young father has died. That same day she is visited by a ghost, Po, an eight year old boy who lives on the other side, the territory between life and death that runs parallel to the living world. Po has come to tell her that her father is stuck on the other side, and that she is the only one who can help him cross over. A couple of wooden boxes. Some ashes. Some magic dust. A ghost, its pet, and a boy who forgot to wear a hat in the cold. From these seemingly odd, random characters Oliver weaves the enchanting story of how, with the aid of Liesl, these elements come together over the course of one week to restore love and luster to a world gone grey and heartless."

I am soooo XCITED about this book and I can not wait to read it!!

And Here Are The Contest Rules From Lauren's Site!!:

"I am so, so, excited about what I have to share with you today...Advance Readers Copies of my new middle-grade book, LIESL & PO!! Some of the sketches aren't final, but the ARCs come swaddled in this absolutely gorgeous box; check out the pictures below. Isn't it magic??

Well, GOOD. Because I'm giving away THREE COPIES NOW, and I'll give away THREE COPIES EACH MONTH until the book comes out in October.

You might be asking--Why am I so nice? Because I love you, of course!

You might ALSO be asking, how do I enter to win?? Well, in this round, I'm going to keep it simple. You get +1 entry for responding to this post (with your email, of course), and telling me what your favorite book was when you were a little kid. (Mine was probably Matilda, by Roald Dahl, or the Redwall Series, by the brilliant and recently deceased Brian Jacques). Please remember to include your email address!
Additionally, you get +2 for being a follower of my blog, and + 3 for twittering about it. If you do a blog post about the contest/my first foray into middle-grade, you get a whopping +4!

Title: Eyes of Fire

"Emily walked down the hall, the florescent school lights beaming down on her like dozens of lamps from an interrogation room. The hall was bear, except for her. Her black heels click clacked against the marble floor, as she made her way to the basement door and down the concrete steps. As the lights in the hall went out, the lights leading down, flickered on, her will, their trigger.

The basement was cold and smelled faintly of smoke and mold, but the chill and scent did not bother Emily - if she didn't want it to. As she walked, the machines and lights around her hummed and flashed to life.

She was almost there. She could feel . . . taste the Fire and the anticipation of it made her skin crawl with energy, but she remained composed. She had to. The Fire was the only thing that could save Riel. The only thing that could save her brother. It was their only hope for salvation.

She just hoped, she wasn't too late . . . "
