ABC Family's The Nine Lives of Chloe King 'Kills' With Its Brilliant Finale!
The summer finale of The Nine Lives of Chloe King, the ABC Family original series, based off the series of books by author Liz Braswell, premiered tonight and if you weren't a fan of the show, I'm pretty sure you have no choice but to be one now, 'cus it was pretty darn awesome!
The Nine Lives of Chloe King or just simply Nine Lives, tells the story of 16 year old Chloe King and her discovery that she is the descendant guardian of an Egyptian god (sorta like a demigod), known as the Mai, but not only is
she a feline-ish godchild, she is also the Uniter, the destined warrior who will bring peace to her world and the human world. Oh, and she also has nine lives, hence the title . . . . or does she?? hrmm .. .. .. .. ..
Through out the series Chloe has been dealing with her new found powers and trying to juggle that with her friends, the boys she likes, her mother, her long lost father and people constantly trying to kill her, while still managing to save people from drug dealers, go to high school and have witty comebacks while facing said people trying to kill, that are just as awesome as her ass kicking martial arts!
Damn, this girl is busy!
Nine Lives is like a more kid friendly version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, (though with each episode it does get progressively darker and better) for it has a group of friends with a female protag who is not only blonde, but who also has real human, teenage issues, on top of her having to protect herself and those she cares about from the bad guys. While Nine Lives doesn't have the same supernatural element as Buffy (there are no apocalypses, yet, at least) the vibe the show gives is so reminiscent of BTVS, that fans of Buff and the Scooby Gang will no doubt love Chloe King, because though its def more campy then Buffy, it's so much fun and has not only great action (girls kicking butt while still managing to wear high heels? come on! awesome.) and great one liners, but it also has an actual storyline and plot that is very intriguing and great.
Did I mention there was action?
Lots of action??
I'm not sure if Nine Lives is being picked up for a second season or even a full season, but after tonights' episode (four people *assuming* died!!!), I really don't see how ABC Family couldn't renew it. I know the viewership has been pretty up and down, even dropping under a million viewers once (yikes!), but this show is really, very good!
In the finale, siblings were revealed, major characters were killed, love was declared, action was insane and peoples lives were changed - forever!
Please people, go on Hulu or ABC Family.com and watch and support the show, because it is really awesome and deserves all of the viewers it can get!
Fingers always crossed that The Nine Lives of Chloe King will return this Fall!!!
